Dwelling in Communities throughout the Southeastern Counties of Virginia, and surrounding the Nottoway River into the Tidewater area are the present day generation of the "People of the Longhouse...."

On Sunday, June 1, 2008, there was a highway marker dedication ceremony memorializing Benjamin Hicks. The ceremony took place at the corner of St. Lukes and Ivor Roads in Southampton County.

Benjamin Hicks is a GGGrandfather of Tribal Councilman, Leroy Hardy. Hicks was honored because of his invention, the Peanut Picker. The Southampton Historical Society also has a display on Ben Hicks in the lobby of the Southampton County Courthouse.
